The Magic Life Of V

MA15+ Documentary

Sorry, there are no upcoming session times for The Magic Life Of V at Dendy Canberra

Synopsis

GALA CLOSING NIGHT
Sunday, August 4 at 6PM (arrival) for 6:15 PM (screening)

Veera lives only part-time in the real world. After a traumatic childhood which left her brother with an acquired brain injury and her alcoholic father estranged, Veera escapes into Live Action Role Playing, or LARPing, where participants play characters and act out scenarios inspired by their favourite works of fiction.

This gorgeously cinematic film is both a view into a unique subculture, and an affecting account of overcoming trauma. Vera’s confident alter-ego “V” helps her find the courage to work through her pain, make peace with the past, and find a place for herself and her brother in the world.

Join us in the foyer after the screening for a closing night celebration with delicious treats courtesy of Ainslie IGA, complete with drinks from Capital Brewing Co and Eden Road Wines.

In Search of Mozart

E Documentary

Made to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth, IN SEARCH OF MOZART is the first feature-length documentary on Mozart's life. Produced with the world's leading orchestras and musicians, told through a 25,000 mile journey along every route Mozart followed, this detective story takes us to the heart of genius. Throughout, it is the music that takes center stage, with the jigsaw of Mozart's life fitting around it. With rigorous analysis from musicologists and experts such as Jonathan Miller, Cliff Eisen, Nicholas Till, Bayan Northcott and the late Stanley Sadie, a new, vivid impression of the composer emerges. It dispels the many common myths about Mozart's genius, health, relationships, death and character, to present a new image, very different from Milos Forman's 'Amadeus'.
