A film by Takashi Miike...

Cult director Takashi Miike (Ichi the Killer, Audition) delivers a bravado period action film set at the end of Japan's feudal era. When the sadistic excesses of Lord Matsudaira (Gorô  Inagaki) grow too extreme, a group of his own samurai are enlisted to assassinate him and end his deadly reign.  Led by samurai Shinzaemon Shimada (Koji Yakusho) the 13 ASSASSINS plan to trap Lord Matsudaira in a bloody confrontation and battle against 200 of his best soldiers.

"The excessive mind of Japanese director Takashi Miike (Audition; Ichi the Killer) throttles back the gore to deliver a disciplined, refreshingly grounded samurai action film." The Age

"13 Assassins looks at honour from many angles, without becoming simplistic. Ichii hasn't lost his edge after all." Sydney Morning Herald

"I was engrossed by this film because it had tactics, strategy and characterisation." MovieTime

"13 Assassins has what many action pictures need, a villain who transcends evil and ascends to a realm of barbaric madness." Roger Ebert

Frida: Vida La Viva

Frida - Viva La Vida is a cinematic documentary that highlights Frida Kahlo’s two souls: the woman, fiercely independent and tormented by love, and the artist, free from the leashes of her physical bounds. Acclaimed actress and director Asia Argento will join us to uncover the two faces of the iconic artist through Frida's own words: letters, diaries and private confessions.
